The photos are of a 1940’s Montgomery Ward Milk/Cream Seaparator.
The first photo is from EBAY. There are a number of them for sale averaging anywhere from $100.00 - $250.00 depending on condition.
The additional photos show the one I restored.
This was a huge project as I needed to completely disassemble it. By the time I got it completely apart, it consisted of about 30 pieces of hardware. After soaking in the bath for a few weeks, I began to pull out the pieces & using a variety of wire brushes, removed all the surface rust.
I found the gear mechanism to be quite interesting. From what I reseasearched, the hand crank can generate about a 65 to 1 ratio. Quite a piece of engineering.
I built a wooden base to mount it on along with handles for lifting it & moving it to make it easier as it’s quite heavy due to it’s cast iron construction. They built things to last back in those days.
I didn’t keep track of how many hours I have in this project as it was spread out over weeks. Best estimate is about 40 hours.
